A winter week at Lapland Nature & Health
A winter week at Lapland Nature & Health
Welcome to a winter week where silence, snow, and stillness shape each day. This 8-day winter program is a carefully curated journey into the heart of Swedish Lapland, offering a harmonious balance of gentle adventure, deep relaxation, and meaningful cultural encounters. Surrounded by snow-covered forests and frozen rivers, you’ll experience winter not as a challenge, but as a calm, grounding presence.
Your stay begins with a warm welcome to the cozy Lapland Nature and Health in Torne Valley, allowing you to settle into the quiet rhythm of the North. One of the first days invites you to experience forest bathing – a mindful walk through the winter woods that helps the body unwind and the mind slow down. Wrapped in snow and silence, nature becomes a source of renewed energy for the days ahead.
As the week unfolds, you’ll step into local life and the Tornedalian culture with a walk through the charming village of Junosuando. Meet the people who call this Arctic landscape home and share a traditional Swedish fika (coffee or tea with something sweet) while conversations flow about life north of the Arctic Circle. These moments of connection offer insight into a way of living shaped by seasons, community, and closeness to nature.
Between guided experiences, there is space to rest, reflect, or add optional adventures. Choose a dog sled tour through snowy landscapes or simply enjoy a free day at your own pace. On the ice fishing day, you’ll learn traditional techniques on a frozen river or lake, and if fortune smiles, prepare your catch over an open fire for lunch – a simple, deeply satisfying Arctic ritual.
Another highlight is the kick-sled excursion through the forest to Almagrund, where a barbecue hut by the lake becomes the setting for a warm meal and shared laughter before gliding back through the winter scenery. Later in the week, you may choose to visit a reindeer farm to learn about this centuries-old way of life, meet the animals, and enjoy stories around the campfire.
As evening falls, a guided snowshoe hike takes you into the winter night in search of the Northern Lights – a quiet, awe-inspiring finale beneath the Arctic sky.
