Kayaking on the Kalix river

Kayaking on the Kalix river

Paddle one of the last big untouched rivers of Europe. On this trip you will see the town of Kalix from the water, learn about history, culture and nature as your guide takes you upstream to a calm, secluded part of the river where you might see birds such as swans and mallards and maybe even the splash from a pike or salmon. You make landfall on the cultural heritage site of Vassholmen island in the middle of the river. There you get to enjoy a field snack with hot or cold beverages and you have the chance to walk around the island, which was used as a sorting station during the age of timber log driving. You then go back downstream and finish the trip in your preferred location (Kalix Camping or Filipsborg or Ice & Light Village).
