Ice fishing on the Arctic Circle

Ice fishing on the Arctic Circle

Experience ice fishing on the Arctic Circle at Rantajärvi Wilderness. Ice fishing is a part of the Arctic lifestyle, and you can spot many locals enjoying a day on the ice during the spring-winter months.

Head out on your own or bring a group of friends or family for a great day outdoors. Fishing during the winter is a special adventure. The lakes Rantajärvi and Naarajärvi are naturally habited by inland lake fish such as pike and perch. You can also catch trout in the lake Naarajärvi.

We offer a 2-hour ice fishing package with a fishing guide, hot beverages, fishing equipment and a reindeer hide to sit on. The ice fishing activity is suitable for children aged 6 years or older, accompanied by adults.

Dress according to weather and bring warm winter clothes, winter shoes, winter gloves and a warm hat. We recommend that you dress in layers and bring wool socks.

Ice fishing is available from January to April. A daily fishing permit is needed for ice fishing in the lake Naarajärvi. Daily information about current fishing conditions is included.

You can rent an ice fishing rod, fish bait, ice drill and reindeer hide to sit on the ice, if you head out on your own.

Enjoy an exciting day on the frozen lake. Welcome to try ice fishing at Rantajärvi Wilderness!
