Pajala Marknad, July 8-10 2022
The market in Pajala dates back to the 1700s and is today Norrbotten County’s largest market with around 45,000 visitors each year. 300 street vendors gather here over a weekend and together offers a huge selection. You can find everything from candy to clothes and art, local handicrafts and international delicacies. A carnival area with entertainment for the entire family keeps everyone happy and during the evening the local nighlife comes to life. Welcome to Pajala Marknad.

Midsummer sail, June 2022
June 21st the starting shot goes in the bay of Wismar for the longest and hardest Baltic regatta. The sailors will race from the southernmost to the northernmost point of the Baltic Sea. The Baltic Sea is one of the most beautiful sailing areas in the world. There are hardly any tides and during the summer there is almost constant daylight. The North-South stretch of almost 900 nautical miles provides the perfect balance between a holiday trip and a sea-going race. Almost 80 international crews will sail the regatta and start arriving to Töre harbour sometime around midsummer. Get ready to hoist the sail!

Kalott Jazz & Blues, July 1-2 2022
Once again, visitors can enjoy music in atmospheric spaces such as the barn at the Åström yard (RIIHIjazz) and the festival culminates late Saturday, with a church concert at Nedertorneå. Festival visitors will meet loads of local talent as well as internationally famous artists. Almost twenty concerts are spread throughout the border geography of Haparanda and Tornio, from the preamble on Thursday to the closing concert on Saturday. Classic Motormeet, July 14-16 2022
The sound of humming engines can be heard over the city when cars take center stage during Haparanda’s Classic Motormeet. The event is arranged by Wheels Nationals and features a swap meet, market, live music, award ceremonies, cruising and of course a lot of cars. After the evening cruise through Haparanda city, the party continues all night long. This is a show that every car enthusiast should attend!

Swim the Arctic Cricle 16 juli 2022
Come and cross borders in the open-water swimming competition in the Torne river. You will not only swim across the border between Sweden and Finland, but also across the Arctic Circle and the time zone. Feel welcome to come and cross your own personal borders too. During the night and you can choose to swim back in time in a 3 000 m race. If you swim the distance under an hour you will actually finish before the day the competition began. Sommarfesten på Brännaberget, July 16 2022
Dance your feet off under the midnight sun. This summer the gates to the mythical folk park that has entertained the region for decades are opened. Matarengi Marknad July 15-17, 2022
Övertorneå’s summer market is called Matarengi Market after the town’s Finnish name and dates back to 1979. During three weekend days, the main street is closed off and street vendors set up their booths. Here you can shop candy, clothes, handicrafts and mingle with local politicians. Many of the stores offer discounts and along the street you’ll find a café where you can rest and have a cup of coffee. Take part in the local community during Matarengi Marknad.
